Based on records consulted, PLAI gave the Severino I. Velasco Award starting 1987 and the Award was incorporated in PLAI's Amended By-Laws in 1988. The award was given to past conference chairs but in 1988, it was awarded to Mrs. Candida C. Agcaoili, Mrs. Josefa Manahan, Mrs. Felicitas Rosal and Fr. Paul Ma. M. De Vera, OSB, for being overall chairs of the 50th, 55th, 60th and 65th Anniversary celebrations respectively. (PLAI Newsletter 1989 (38), p.6.)
