The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI) confers its awards to distinguished individuals who have showcased exemplary dedication, leadership, and service that significantly contribute to the advancement of the Association, the library profession, and the communities they serve. These awards recognize outstanding achievements that embody the values and vision of PLAI, inspiring excellence, innovation, and commitment among library and information professionals.
The PLAI Awards guidelines are uniformly followed throughout the nomination process, evaluation of candidates, selection of winners, and announcement of the awardees.
Every award nomination should include the following information:
This is considered the Association’s highest recognition and a hallmark of professional excellence. Awarded to a librarian who has received at least three different national-level PLAI awards in the last ten years and who has significantly contributed to the development of the library profession in the Philippines.

This award is the Association’s Professional Award given to a member in recognition of his/her remarkable achievements as a professional and whose contribution has made a considerable favorable impact on international, regional and/or Philippine librarianship.

This award is the Association’s Leadership Award in recognition of the immediate Past President’s exemplary leadership in steering the Association to greater success.
For the successful chairmanship of the PLAI National Congress.
For the successful chairmanship of the National Book Week celebration.
For exemplary achievements in the advancement of the profession (e.g., sharing knowledge and expertise as a teacher of library and information science, as an author of books and articles on librarianship widely used in the education of LIS students, and as a resource person in various seminars and training workshops for librarianship).
